We translate mostly from English to French and from French to English.

Our rates include translation, editing, terminology, fact-based and documentary research in each and every mandate, in addition to proofreading and desktop publishing.

We are a 24/7/365 operation to better serve clients in all time zones.

We specialize in high‑volumes, very short turnaround time translations. We provide very high service levels.

As part of our operations, we also provide integrated or separate copywriting or creation services, editing, proofreading, desktop publishing in the most advanced graphic design software applications, and simultaneous translation for conferences, seminars, summits or general meetings.

On a day-to-day basis

Our translation process includes the following daily activities

1.

Translation

All our translation projects are carried out by our full time salaried employees, who are certified translators and members in good standing of OTTIAQ or accredited outside Canada. We never subcontract or outsource and we always rely on our own internal permanent staff.

Revision/Copy editing

All our translations are revised and edited, word by word and segment by segment, by separate and experienced translators (team leaders) fully dedicated to this editing function. Our translation editors make sure our quality criteria are strictly met.

Terminology research

Each project is subject to a complete terminology research, initiated as soon as assignments are received. This research is carried out by certified terminologists, who are also members in good standing of OTTIAQ and who are fully dedicated to terminology research. The terminology research process is partly automated and performed with our own translation tools and specialty data sets. Within a few months following the initiation of a contract relationship with a new client, we are in a position to use a current terminology memory, which includes a client’s stylistic inventory and other standards or best practices and which is updated on an ongoing basis.

Fact based and
documentary research

Each project is also subject to a complete factual and documentary research, assigned to professional documentalists. The purpose of this factual and documentary research is to provide our translators with a context, writing style and other generic or specific information on Client’s corporate culture or on the target content. This step includes a technical accuracy check (TACT) of the deliverable copy.

Desktop Publishing

We process our translations on all software platforms available on the market, including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, etc.), Adobe Suite applications (PDF, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Amipro and CADD applications (Autodesk, AutoCAD, etc.). We offer turnkey services in all these software suites.

6.

Proofreading

This step is assigned to professional proofreaders. Proofreading is a specialty which consists in reading copy differently from a conventional reading method: translations are proofread word by word, visually isolating each character of a word, instead of reading the overall copy, i.e. sentence by sentence or unit by unit, as a reviser or generalist reader would do, and checking various details such as spelling conventions and target copy alignment versus source copy.

Spelling, grammatical
and style checks

We carry out all these controls with automated tools, using a systematic human intervention.

8.

Release

When all these steps are complete, the target copy is ready for delivery; the team leader signs out the translation release voucher, which means that the general coordinator has the signoff and may deliver the target copy to the client.

Our Quality Requirements

We have been certified since 2012 for quality assurance of translation services as part of Canadian Standard CGSB 131.10-2017. The purpose of this biennial certification is to ensure a certified translation firm performs all the internal quality control steps, so as to provide clients with a complete quality assurance confirmation on each and every translated document. Our internal quality control and quality assurance procedures therefore include the 8 mandatory steps outlined above. Every other year, a third-party certifier conducts an audit in our facilities to confirm to our customers that we are performing all the stated quality control steps.
